How Our Evac System Maintenance Works

step 1

Expert consultation

Our initial consultation delves deeply into your specific evacuation system requirements. We address all aspects, ranging from traditional wired to advanced wireless solutions, ensuring our approach is tailored to the unique characteristics of your property. Whether you operate a commercial complex, a healthcare facility, or residential buildings, our aim is to understand and meet the distinct safety needs of each environment across the UK.

Complimentary asset condition report

A critical step in evaluating your evacuation system’s current performance. This report assesses the system’s effectiveness, identifying its operational strengths and pinpointing any areas of vulnerability or need for enhancement. This evaluation allows us to customise our maintenance approach to suit the specific requirements of your environment, ensuring optimal safety and efficiency in your premises.

step 3

Dedicated maintenance and servicing

Maintain safety and compliance with our dedicated evacuation system maintenance services. We conduct regular inspections and scheduled maintenance to ensure the optimal functioning of your evacuation system, always prioritising your safety and adhering to the latest standards.

Understand Your Assets Before Finalising Maintenance Agreements

Asset condition reports provide a comprehensive overview of the current state of your fire and security equipment and systems, enabling informed decisions for timely maintenance, ensuring value for money, compliance, optimal performance, and longevity.

Not understating your assets and owning that data before maintenance is like navigating in the dark.

It increases the risk of unforeseen challenges, higher costs, and potential operational setbacks, all of which can negatively impact your business’s bottom line and reputation.

Evac System Types and Their Unique Features

Standard Evacuation Alert Systems:

These are the basic systems used in many buildings. They typically include evacuation alert panels, interface units, sounders, and visual indicators. They may operate on a zone-by-zone basis, allowing the FRS to issue evacuation orders to specific floors or areas.

Advanced Evacuation Alert Systems:

These systems, such as C-TEC’s EVAC-ALERT, are compliant with BS 8629:2019 standards and are specifically designed for high-rise residential buildings. They come with features like self-testing sounders, visual indicators, and vibrating pillow pads for the hearing impaired, ensuring compliance with the Equality Act. These systems can also be interconnected for larger installations to reduce wiring costs and facilitate easier management.

Wireless Evacuation Systems:

Ideal for retrofitting into existing buildings, wireless systems use radio technology to communicate evacuation alerts. They are more cost-effective for retrofitting due to the lack of extensive wiring requirements.

Modular/Expandable Systems:

These systems are designed to be scalable and can be expanded or adapted as needed. For example, a fire alarm system in a high-rise tower block can be adapted and used as an evacuation system once the building returns to a ‘Stay Put’ policy.

Each evacuation system has its unique maintenance needs. Don’t settle for a one-size-fits-all solution. Book your free consultation with D2 Integrated today and find the perfect maintenance package specifically designed for your system.

Why you need maintenance

Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, it’s a mandatory requirement to conduct regular testing and maintenance of evacuation systems. Failing to comply can result in significant fines or even imprisonment. These systems are essential in reducing fire risks, playing a critical role in safeguarding the safety of both occupants and property assets.

A neglect in maintaining these systems not only endangers lives but can also lead to breaches in insurance policies, potentially invalidating claims. Hence, consistent maintenance is crucial to avoid putting lives and assets at risk.

To ensure your premises remain safe and compliant, D2 Integrated offers bespoke maintenance packages for evacuation systems. Our solutions are tailored to meet the specific needs of your building, ensuring that your evacuation systems are operational and adhere to safety standards. By opting for D2 Integrated, you secure the safety of your building and stay compliant with legal obligations.

For more detailed information on the maintenance of evacuation systems and their legal requirements, you can refer to the official guidelines of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, available here.
