Greyfriars Church, Reading – Phase 2 completed

Exciting News from D2 Integrated Services!

The Greyfriars Church Project, a two-phase endeavour, saw remarkable success under D2IS’s expert guidance.

Phase 1 (2021): This phase saw the construction of a library extension to the church. Our team, with its expertise in fire detection, security, and more, installed a state-of-the-art L1 category Advanced Fire alarm system equipped with Apollo detection. Additionally, we integrated a Grade 2 Orisec hybrid Intruder alarm and a C-tec Disabled refuge & WC alarm, ensuring the safety and security of the new extension.

Phase 2 (2022-2023): D2IS was entrusted with the second phase, which involved the establishment of a 3-floor community centre adjacent to the church. Our team networked and integrated the existing systems with the new community centre layout, ensuring seamless functionality.

Project Overview:

Completed in 1311 by the Franciscans, Greyfriars Church is the UK’s oldest Franciscan building still in use for worship. This Grade 1 listed structure was renovated in 2000, offering a bright and spacious interior within its ancient walls. Since the arrival of the Franciscans in 1233, Greyfriars Church has remained dedicated to spreading the message of Jesus and serving the local community. A limited edition ‘History of Greyfriars Church, Reading’ by Malcolm Summers is available in the Atrium bookshop for those seeking a more detailed history.
